Federica Capitani has been selected by M&C Saatchi and Peroni nastro Azzurro to create a piece for “piccola” a collection of contemporary Italian Design installations presented at the Design Museum of London in June 2014
Focusing on the Italian philosophy of the power of the handmade product, each bottle has been created using hand-blown techniques. Each Piccola bottle’s form has been distorted and all 35 bottles have their own unique volume and shape.
Thinking about Piccola and the context of this installation Capitani got interested in experimenting with the physical properties of the industrial glass bottle. Capitani wanted to use it as a starting point for her interpretation to find back the hand made in the bottle by exploring new forms through hand blown techniques.
